I woke up one day, tired of feeling helpless and hopeless; tired of seeing how many of our politicians in the United States are corrupt, aging and only there to better themselves and their wealthy counterparts. I believe today we are more divided as a nation than we ever have been before. So many people refuse to get out the mindset of every issue being black and white, when there are grey areas for almost every issue. The “if you’re not with me, then you’re against me” mentality has been greatly damaging to us all. It takes a village, and we all need to be villagers.
I want to make big changes someday, to bring us back together as neighbors and a tight-knit community; and to do that I need to start right here in our very own Elkton, Maryland. As mayor, I want to be the voice for this town that change is good, the voice for the millennials and the next generations that there is hope for us and that our political climate can get better. All the while, making sure that our elders are also taken care of as they move into the next stages of their lives. We all have to work together to make lasting and good change for every single person in Elkton.
Our current administration has done a good job at starting the process to grow Elkton, but it is not enough. There are serious issues in Elkton that need to be resolved. Moving Elkton forward and working together as a community is the answer.
